Mystery of Clock combines design, dramaturge, musical composition, text, improvisation and performance to create a highly immersive musical and theatrical experience for the general audience. The musicians are story tellers, human beings who traverse between quasi real-life and fictional states of being musicians, intimate souls, and fictional characters—creating imaginative musical tales that leave one wonders about the blurry lines between reality and fantasy.
Conceived for two exceptional musicians—Aiyun Huang, percussionist, and Mark Fewer, violinist—the project examines how our clocks respond to one another, to the passage of time, to stress, and to emotions. The two instruments embody distinct yet complementary temporalities, symbolizing the diversity of human experiences.
Each scene is an exploration of a key theme: memory, stress, love, the irreversibility of time… The violin and percussion become mirrors of the human soul: fragile, complex, deeply connected. Through their musical dialogue, they offer an artistic meditation on temporality, love, and what makes us beings in a perpetual quest for synchronization with the world.

Volunteer
Sound Symposium is powered by volunteers. Whether you’re looking to meet new people or spend time immersed in experimental music, your donated time is the secret sauce that makes Sound Symposium so special. We’ll thank you with some perks, too.
We need volunteers to work at the merchandise table, and to pull front-of-house shifts at concerts taking place at our various venues, including MUN, The Rooms, and Cape Spear. We need friendly faces to meet and greet attendees at workshops. If you’re good with computers, sound systems and machines of all sorts, we also need volunteers to assist the technical team.
We will help you find the volunteer position that’s right for your skills and your schedule.
