LSPU Hall + Second Space

Parking
Parking is available downtown after 6PM on weekdays and on weekends. Please note there is no parking available on Victoria Street. A parking spot outside the front of the LSPU Hall is kept available for accessible parking. If you get downtown early enough, you can find street parking on Duckworth and after 6PM and on weekends you do not have to pay the meters. There is a Harbour Drive Parking Lot located outside of the Fortis Building at Harbourfront and Prescott. There are 100 parking spaces that are available. First come, first serve. There is also a parking lot on Prescott Street located north of Duckworth Street behind the Bluedrop Performance Building. There are 60 parking spaces available. First come, first serve.

A lift inside the main entrance to provide access to the theatre on the second floor. Staff and volunteers are available to assist with the operation of the lift.
There is a button-activated automatic door opener on the main door entering the LSPU lobby, on the door into the Cox & Palmer Second Space (where there is a bar and waiting area), and on the door to the large dressing room.
Contrast painting can be found throughout the building, leading up the the theatre and making steps, corners, and doorways more accessible to the low vision community.
Service animals are always welcome during any public events happening at the Hall. Please advise the box office when booking your seat so an appropriate seat can be booked.

Parking
There is the possibility of parking spaces being available in front of Lawnya Vawnya Headquarters, there is also parking all along Harbour Drive. All street parking is free after 6PM during weekdays and on weekends. There is also an A P Parking Garage across the street from Lawnya Vawnya at 1 Clift’s – Baird’s Cove. Rates for this parking garage are $2 for first 30 minutes, $1.75 for each additional 30 minutes, $15 daily until 6PM, and after 6PM its $1 every 30 minutes.
Accessibility
There is a steep downward ramp and the HQ door is raised approximately 1-2 inches from the ground. Doors must be manually opened. Washroom doors may be too narrow for some wheelchair users.

2 Gender Neutral washrooms are located on the ground floor of 72 Harbour Drive, one of these is wheelchair accessible. The 1st bathroom in the hallway (width of 45 inches) has a door that is 31 inches wide. The bathroom is a small space, approximately 6 feet by 5 feet – even less so with the toilet, sink, and swinging door is taken into account). The second bathroom just beyond the first one is wheelchair accessible, with more floor space (the bathroom is 7 feet by 10.3 feet, with a 34-inch doorway). This new bathroom is located down a hallway that is 104 inches long and 45.5 inches wide.

Accessibility
As a product of the 19th Century, the Cathedral can be challenging for accessibility, and is not accessible for wheelchair users. There is a steep set of stairs between the upper and lower levels.

There is some accessible parking available on Gower Street and in the parking lot.

There is an accessible washroom on the main floor of the cathedral.
The Ship

There is street parking available above The Ship on Duckworth Street, and street parking below on Harbour Drive. Not wheelchair accessible as the entrance to The Ship is down a flight of concrete stairs if you are coming down from Duckworth Street, and up a flight of stairs if you are coming up from Water Street.

There is street parking available above The Ship on Duckworth Street, and on Harbour Drive. There is a pedestrian mall currently on Water Street from Prescott Street to Adelaide Street from noon until 10PM daily. All street parking is free after 6PM during weekdays and on weekends.
Accessibility
From Water Street entrance: There is a set of glass doors (width of 48 inches). They lead into the main hallway of the building, where you will find the black double gate (width of 58 inches) leading to the Shop & Pantry on your immediate right, and a door leading to Gallery ahead of you on the far right. Through the doors you will find stairs and an elevator (door is 31 inches wide) that will lead you to the second floor where the gallery is located.
No entrances leading to the gallery have buttons to press to automatically open the doors and all require someone to physically (manually) open them at this time.
Washroom
The gender neutral washroom is just to the left of the elevator on the second floor the doorways to the washroom are 36 inches wide and has an accessible push button. The washroom is approximately 6 feet by 5 feet.
Harbourside Park
Parking
Parking is available along water street. There is an accessible parking spot in front of the entrance to the park. Please note the section of the street in front of Harbourside Park has been undergoing renovations for the past year, and is still ongoing. All street parking is free after 6PM during weekdays and on weekends.
Accessibility
All areas of this park can be accessed by folks who use mobility aids, however some may find it challenging to push their mobility aids through gravel areas of the path. There are ramps connecting all levels and areas of the park, and many benches for people to sit.

There are no washrooms at this outdoor park.
The Space

Accessibility
People enter the building through the main doors of 72 Harbour Drive. A ramp in the front of the building leads from the outside parking lot through glass double doors (width of 71 inches). They lead into the main hallway of the building, and the space is located down this hallway. There are small elevations in the floor and a lip about 1-2” tall to enter The Space. There are doors that have to be pulled manually to enter The Space. The room is open and the floor flat.

Cape Spear
Parking: There is a parking lot, and there are several accessible parking spaces.
Accessibility: The Cape Spear Site consists of outdoor trails and indoor bunkers. From the main parking lot, there is a paved trail that goes straight to a rounded wooden area at the most easterly point in Canada overlooking the ocean. This paved path extends to where the bunkers are which will be a location for the outdoor performance. Folks can navigate through these tunnels with their mobility aids, however the individual rooms in the bunker are not accessible, they are elevated and accessed by a single concrete step.

Gendered washrooms. There is a wheelchair ramp to an accessible washroom, however this door does not have an automatic door and must be pulled manually.
First Light Event Space

Parking
There is an accessible parking space in front of the building. The parking lot in front is quite small, there is free parking along Bannerman Road which is a short 2-4 minute walk away.
Accessibility
The front door is accessed by a flight of stone steps. From the front door to access the Event Space you must go up a small flight of stairs. To use the elevator, you can go through the entrance at 1 Stewart Avenue, which has a path from the accessible space in the parking lot in front of the building.
Washrooms
Gender Neutral, there is an accessible sized bathroom but there is no automatic button, and the door has to be pulled manually.
First Light Centre for Performance and Creativity

Parking:
Located in the heart of Downtown St. John’s at 81 Cochrane Street, and there is no dedicated parking lot. On-street parking is available throughout the neighbourhood between April-November. For blue-zone pass holders, there is one accessible parking space on the ramp that leads up to the front doors.
Accessibility
Although First Light has made progress towards full accessibility with a recent upgrade to the ramp leading to the main doors, there are some features of the building that may be challenging to navigate for some audience members. The floor seating is all one level with a gentle downward slope leading to the front of the space, and there is one row with extra leg room that is designated as “accessible seating” because it has more room for placement of mobility aids. Please note that the balcony seating area is only accessible via staircase.
