As summer 2024 slows to a close, we would like to thank all of you – artists, volunteers, staff, audience members, and workshop participants – for your incredible enthusiasm, engagement, and encouragement throughout this season.

Sound Symposium XXI was truly a symposium of ideas, filled with 9 days and nights of workshops, improvisation, sound, music, dance, visual and performance art, and everything in between. We were thrilled to host 9 Harbour Symphonies, 17 workshops, 11 live installation/performances, 25 concerts, and countless other unique indoor and outdoor events, opportunities for improvisation, and exchanges of ideas. Beginning on the sidewalks of Water Street and ending at Cape Spear National Historic Site, we brought sound art to more than a dozen unique venues and outdoor spaces in and around our city. With nearly 100 artists and a robust team of staff and volunteers, together we transformed St. John’s into a playground for experimentation and exploration in music and sound.

None of this would be possible without the support of our funders and sponsors, and without the dedication of Sound Symposium artists, volunteers, staff, audience members, and workshop participants. Thank you for making Sound Symposium XXI such an enormous success – we couldn’t have done it without you!

If you have a few minutes, we would sincerely appreciate your completing our Sound Symposium XXI Participant Survey.
